Perhaps the most well-known skiing resorts of Ontario, Blue Mountain Ski Resort has become an outstanding and luxurious resort since it was established in 1941.

The excellent feature of this area is that it provides special events during the seasons for individuals couples, families and large groups. It has luxurious accommodations and has excellent restaurants and shopping in its close vicinity.

The snowfall here is as high as 120 inches or 340 centimeters when winter arrives. The resort has three terrain parks, which makes it the perfect place to host a variety of activities.

For ski-related things to do, Blue Mountain offers well-groomed pistes and skis that have heavy lift capacity within the 42 trails. Skiing at night is also possible and can be shortened up to thirty runs.

The most well-known pass is the 5×7, that gives skiers unlimited access on the weekdays. Also, it offers restaurant discounts and ski school promotions and skiing on weekends beginning at 3:30 pm.

It is highly recommended because aside from ski activities, guests can also enjoy other perks like food crawls and entertainment, spas and even shopping. Its one-stop shop is the main reason for its popularity.

The only thing we dislike about this location is that their ticket sales procedure is extremely complicated. The majority of them are not available online, and the lines for physical tickets are lengthy.

Due to its popularity it is also full during winter. That means that you’ll need to compete against other travellers to secure a room or even a simple daily event.

However, we believe it to be Blue Mountain Ski Resort’s general popularity makes it worth a top choice. The drive from Toronto takes about 2 1/2 hour and there are buses that can take direct to the resort in the winter.

  • Has 42 ski trails
  • 5X7 pass offers unlimited skiing during weekdays.

“Small village with a wide selection of eateries. It’s a great place to ski, but I believe that the mountains’ ski level could be more visible and clearer. The staff is readily available in the upper mountains to benefit often.

There were mountains in the beginning that required you to climb the mountain to reach the top. Gorgeous views of the lake!” — Nayany Cruz via Google

Just 134 kilometers away from Toronto, Horseshoe Resort is an ideal winter getaway destination for residents of Ontario. Apart from skiing, this resort also has things like cycling, golfing, hiking and much many more.

Some cafes and restaurants are also found in this area. There is also an executive chef who are looking to experience exquisite cuisine.

Private lessons are provided here, and they also have their own weekends programs. Skiing is their specialty, and they have more than 100 instructors that accompany and train guests.

The thing we love most about this spot is the elevation drop, which has an average of about 300 feet. It’s a small drop, and is a great place to starting point, yet it’s suitable for novices and even kids.

There’s no reason to miss the snow at this resort. There is an outdoor snow tubing area as well as an ice skating arena as well as snowmobiling.

We also love the fact that the hotel is just 20 minutes from the craziness of the city, so getting into other activities and exploring other destinations during your trip will not be a big hassle.

One thing to observe concerning Horseshoe has to do with the fact that there have been numerous complaints regarding the hygiene in their premises. There are occasions that they do not get things cleaned up promptly, which is negative for their image.

There are instances of these companies charging for even the tiniest of things like towels, inflatables, and many more. These ought to be included in their offerings already.

On the plus side, Horseshoe provides free ski passes throughout the winter months. Make sure you check out for your pass and lock it immediately.

We would recommend Horseshoe due to its location close to Toronto and the great deals it offers for skiing and other snow activities. The first time they opened was in 1962, so their track record is what they attribute to them.

Pros

  • It’s only an hour and half drive away from Toronto
  • There are more than 100 ski instructors
  • Drops from an elevation are suitable for children and beginners.
  • In operation since 1962

Cons

  • Sometimes fails to keep facilities tidy
  • Extra charges are added for items that are included in the package

I was really impressed by their ticketing system online for skiing

“I am extremely pleased with their ticketing system online for this winter’s skiing. I bought my tickets in the evening before going online. They also have an excellent self-service kiosk where you can scan QR codes and then print your ticket. It took me 5 minutes.

Hills are always maintained, while the meals at Kicking Horse never disappoint.” -Tracy DeGrow, via Google. Tracy DeGrow, via Google

Hockley Valley Resort was established in 1985. It’s an area of 300 acres. Through the years it has grown its golf, skiing outdoor, and even accommodation.

It is also an increasingly popular destination for weddings due to the stunning views. It is also just a little over an hour from Toronto and makes it easy.

For skiing, the vertical drop is 350 feet and is served with four ski lifts. The park also has two stunning, vast terrain parks, which are filled with obstacles like tables, railing boxes, benches for parks, and picnic tables.

Packages are among the most accurate for the perfect price at Hockley Valley Resort. We particularly like the fact that they are extremely specific about season passes as well as programming that lists the number of guests who are included as well as timetables.

The staff is also vigilant in regards to security. They have age limits on their tickets, and offer plans specifically designed for children.

If you’re looking to explore other options, the place is only 20 minutes from the city center, and it is easy to locate restaurants and shops.

A lot of rooms have breathtaking views from the balcony. The hotel’s rooms are situated at the foot of a hill. They offer bigger suites that are ideal for families.

There are instances where the bookings we receive here may be a mess. A few groups tend to be located in rooms on separate floors. This could be a problem.

A few of its facilities seem to be dated too, so we’d like it to increase on these as soon as it is possible.

We still would recommend Hockley Valley Resort for the low-cost and excellent ski packages that it provides.

Pros

  • Affordable packages
  • Have packages specifically designed specifically for children.
  • Offers beautiful ski hill views
  • A little over an hour from Toronto

Cons

  • Sometimes, bookings are confused
  • Certain facilities appear old-fashioned

Glen Eden Skiing is a tiny resort for snowboarding and skiing that has 12 trails. It is situated at the foot of Niagara Escarpment, making the stunning views.

We like the what we like the most about Glen Eden is how it distinguishes between skiers and novices by defining appropriate zones for the two.

The vertical drop of the slope is just 240 feet, it’s steep slopes, so it’s not easy. This is the reason they permit regulars as well as those who have been trained to ski in this area.

The beginner’s zone is situated on the lower slopes, which makes it more secure. Children are also allowed with a guardian, but only if they’re with a parent.

We are impressed that this area is home to its very own ski school where all age groups are able to learn about snow sports like skiing. Private lessons can also be arranged at this location.

There’s nothing negative to say about the establishment However, it has weaknesses. It has enough potential to improve its equipment, especially since certain parts have shown signs of wear and wear and tear.

The administration is also fairly strict with regards to safety and often requests medical documents. Safety is very important, but unneeded procedures often cause people to shun.

All in all, Glen Eden is a fantastic place to go skiing and to enjoy a restful and inexpensive stay in the winter.

Pros

  • Amazing views from the location
  • There have been designated ski slopes and areas for novices and experts in skiing.
  • A snow school offers snowboarding and skiing lessons
  • About an hour’s drive from Toronto

  • It is time to upgrade some of their equipment
  • Unnecessarily requests medical records

Many good alternatives for skiing

“Glen Eden Ski can be described as a perfect neighborhood ski resort. It’s just large suitable to offer an actual skiing experience (with chairlifts, numerous slopes of different difficulty and lodge, snow school etc. ).

For families or children who want to learn, there’s no better school than this one. We had lessons and the instructors were great There are hills with bunnies, so it’s secure.

Then, right on the Escarpment The views are decent and the atmosphere is right, with fires burning and people having fun!” — Ivan Sandoval via Google

Many good choices for skiing. The resort isn’t huge, but well maintained. For Southern Ontario, it does have some really great slopes. — Bartosz Scheller, via Google

Amidst a historic location, Lakeridge Ski Resort is one of the most well-known ski resorts close to Toronto. It is accessible by a drive of just one hour from Toronto and is an ideal choice on everyone’s lists of places to be near.

The history of Lakeridge’s site dates back as far as the 1800s, however we are pleased with how it has built its amenities and facilities since. A massive lodge is being constructed at the time of writing, and has an rental shop, skiing school, and equipment storage.

We like to have daily coin-operated lockers that are ideal for those looking to enjoy an afternoon of skiing. The prices for tickets are within the normal range and typically cover at minimum 3 hours of activities.

This area is moderate to difficult in its vertical drop, which is 300 feet. It has 23 runs, and covers 70 acres.

Customers do complain about having had a particularly rude staff member who destroyed their entire experience. We hope that the establishment takes action, since it can have a devastating effect on their customer base and reputation.

As the location is small it is also quite busy during certain days and lines can be for a long time.

Lakeridge Ski Resort is an enjoyable trip, but be sure to reserve tickets well in advance so you don’t have to stand in long lines and maximize the value of your ticket.
